UPDATED SKINCARE ROUTINE

Hello there! 🙂

This one is for my people with normal to oily skin. As you know, for the past year I was using ‘Forever Living’ products. I did a post about it here. For a while I continued to use those products but I realized I needed to change things when my skin was never acne-free. I did some research on the best types of moisturizer for oily skin. Turns out it’s gel moisturizer because it is absorbed quickest into the skin so it doesn’t just sit on your skin and block pores…But most gel moisturizers were a tad bit expensive. So I stumbled upon this Neutrogena oil-free pink grape fruit moisturizer. People online have raved about it so I went on to buy it…Best decision ever! Then after that I just ran with it and got Neutrogena the whole 3-step process of cleansing, toning and moisturizing. My skin is so much happier now.

Here is my updated routine:

STEP 1 : CLEANSER

I use this Neutrogena Visibly Clear Oil-Free Acne Wash. First of all…It smells so good! 🙂  It has salicylic acid which is the active ingredient that fights the acne. So if you have acne-prone skin, then you need to get a cleansing product with salicylic acid. The pump helps so that you can never pour out too much product. The downside of this face wash is that it’s a bit drying. But once you use toner and moisturizer, you’re good to go.

STEP 2 : TONING

Toning helps close up your pores after the cleanser has done its magic. It also helps tighten the skin and remove any remaining dirt or make up that the cleanser didn’t get. It also helps repair the damaged surface of your skin caused by drying cleanser. It is not mandatory but if you have oily skin it’s a plus because it helps reduce the size of pores and makes the skin feel smoother. The best kind is alcohol-free because alcohol is drying. I use this Neutrogena Alcohol-Free toner. It really helps with reconditioning my face. It is very categorical that it won’t strip the face of its natural moisturizers. And it’s true. It doesn’t dry the face. But it feels a bit heavier than the Forever Living toner I talked about here. Other than that, it rocks! 🙂

STEP 3 : MOISTURIZER

I can say this is a holy grail moisturizer- Neutrogena Visibly Clear Oil-Free Moisturizer. If you have oily skin you need this in your life! My previous moisturizer used to sit on my skin. It was comedogenic (clogs pores)  so it used to cause breakouts sometimes and I sometimes  sweated a lot. Good moisturizer must be absorbed into your skin. This one is absorbed into the skin like magic. Plus it’s not just a moisturizer…It’s an acne-fighting moisturizer. It claims to hydrate, refresh, help keep skin clear and soft and does not clog pores. It does exactly what is claims. And it also smells soo good! Neutrogena outdid themselves with this pink grapefruit line. The only qualms I have is the amount of product. It could definitely be more.

Otherwise I still use the same scrub, toner, face mask and sunscreen I mentioned here. I’m however going to change to Neutrogena sunscreen as well. Plus I was my face only once a day now. Sometimes I don’t cleanse my face for two days…Hear me out. 😀 I discovered that you don’t always need to be fussing about your skin. Let it breathe. So using just make up remover or splashing your face with water and leaving it for two days(preferably the weekend) is ok and is good for getting back the skin’s oil balance.

All these products can be found in Super Cosmetics stores, Uchumi, Beauty Wholesale in town and Beauty Options.

Good skin creates the best base for make up. Otherwise no amount of make up can flatten the bumps!

Have a great weekend! 🙂

Has anything changed for you?
